Elbert County Fire Department proudly protects 15,000 people living in an area of 370 square miles while operating 9 stations with and ISO rating of 5/9. The Department is made up of 140 Volunteer Professionals whom through their hard work and dedication, risk their lives to protect life and property. The Stations operate a total of 11 engines, 8 tankers, and 4 brush trucks. Water is supplied in the outlying areas by 62 Dry Hydrants as well as Boat Ramp suction sources on Lake Russell and Strom Thurmond Lake. Pressurized hydrants can be found in the Cities of Bowman and Elberton as well as extending into some areas of Elbert County.
